Russian lumberjack Alexander Sokolov won the 2012 World Logging Championships held in Belarus on Saturday.

The woodsman beat out the field in which competitors from Great Britain and Finland got second and third, respectively.

Over one-hundred lumberjacks from nearly thirty countries competed in the events, with their skills showcasing the most precise and fastest in the business.

Starting in a nearby forest, Sokolov and his competitors cut down trees, attempting to make them fall in an exact direction determined by judges.

World's longest bus was unveiled in Dresden, Germany recently.

Dubbed the Autotram Extra Grand, the 98-foot long vehicle looks like a bus with the capabilities of a train and has a passenger capacity of 256.

Mars Rover Beams Back Audio Recording

Beamed over millions of miles, this historic audio has become the first recording of a human voice to be transmitted back to Earth from the surface of another planet.

The message from a NASA administrator was sent from the Curiosity rover, sitting in uncharted territory on Mars.

The robotic lab has also continued snapping pictures of the Martian landscape.

NASA hailed the audio transmission, hoping it will inspire a new generation to look to the stars.

Spanish recession set to deepen

The recession is expected to worsen as austerity measures introduced in response to the eurozone debt crisis reduce demand for goods and services.
